This year's Fellows are:
Richard Drew, a Pulitzer prize photojournalist who spent 53 years on the staff of the Associated Press.
Marvin Kalb, a longtime diplomatic correspondent for CBS and NBC and the founding director of the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard University.
Soledad O'Brien, an award winning documentarian and broadcast journalist who currently hosts the political magazine program Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien, and is a correspondent for HBO's Real Sports.
Dana Priest, a reporter for The Washington Post and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Chair in Public Affairs Journalism at the University of Maryland's Phillip Merrill College of Journalism. Priest is a Pulitzer prize winner for her coverage of secret CIA interrogation sites and the mistreatment of wounded veterans at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Lesley Visser, a correspondent for CBS Sports, who is the only sportscaster (male or female) to work on a network broadcast of the Final Four, the Super Bowl, the World Series, the NBA Finals, the Triple Crown, the Olympics, the U.S. Open and the World Figure Skating Championship.

The deadline is approaching for the Innovative Story Award, an award given by the National Press Foundation. The award recognizes digital journalism in the matter which changes how stories are told. The deadline is Monday, Oct. 2 and the winner would receive a $5,000 cash prize.

The deadline for the National Press Association Awards is not too far away. Work that was published or broadcast between Sept. 30, 2022 and Sept. 30, 2023 is eligible. Nominations must be submitted by Oct. 2nd, with the exception of the AARP Award for Excellence in Journalism on Aging, whose deadline is Oct. 16th.

The deadline is approaching for the Everett McKinley Dirksen Award, the award from the National Press Foundation that recognizes reporting that takes a look at the inner workings of Congress. The winner will get a cash prize of $5,000 and be included in the Foundation's annual awards events.
The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma, based at Columbia University, will hold an awards reception, roundtable discussion and reception honoring the winners of the Dart Award honorees. The discussion will consider the best practices in reporting violence and tragedy.

The event is open to the public and will also be live streamed for those who cannot attend in person. The ceremony begins at 6pm and doors will open at 5:30pm.
The Chronicle of Higher Education will be holding a two day Fall Reporting Workshop for college journalists. Participants will learn how to report on higher education issues and take tips and insight back to share with their college newsrooms.
This will be held Oct. 12 and 13 at the Chronicle's offices in Washington, DC and expenses are paid for.
The Voice of America headquarters in Washington, DC will be designated as a historic site in journalism today. The honor, under SPJ's Historic Sites program, was announced last October. A ceremony will be held in person beginning at 3:30pm ET at the VOA's headquarters.
