SPJ23 Keynote featuring the 2023 Fellows of the Society

Join us for the final keynote session of SPJ23 featuring this year's Fellows of the Society, the highest professional award SPJ bestows for extraordinary contributions to the professions of journalism. This year's Fellows are: Richard Drew, a Pulitzer prize photojournalist who spent 53 years on the staff of the Associated Press. Marvin Kalb, a longtime diplomatic correspondent for CBS and NBC and the founding director of the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard University. Soledad O'Brien, an award winning documentarian and broadcast journalist who currently hosts the political magazine program Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien, and is a correspondent for HBO's Real Sports. Dana Priest, a reporter for The Washington Post and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Chair in Public Affairs Journalism at the University of Maryland's Phillip Merrill College of Journalism. Priest is a Pulitzer prize winner for her coverage of secret CIA interrogation sites and the mistreatment of wounded veterans at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Lesley Visser, a correspondent for CBS Sports, who is the only sportscaster (male or female) to work on a network broadcast of the Final Four, the Super Bowl, the World Series, the NBA Finals, the Triple Crown, the Olympics, the U.S. Open and the World Figure Skating Championship. This keynote session will have you learn from some of the best in the industry and have you inspired to pursue the best ethical journalism possible.
